17-19 September 2010, University of Rzeszów (Poland)
Idea
Following the first World Scientific Congress of Combat Sports and Martial Arts (Rzeszów, September 22-24, 2006) and after two international humanistic conferences devoted to the topic of martial arts and combat sports, organized be the Faculty of Physical Education UR, an initiative of organizing the second Congress has been undertaken. An idea of the 2nd World Scientific Congress of Combat Sports and Martial Arts is a meeting of all researchers, who are interested in martial arts and combat sports. We intend to establish a specialized international scientific society under the name of International Budo University. Thus, we would like to invite the scientists, as well as the experts of martial arts and coaches representing the combat sports circle. There will certainly be sessions with lectures, poster sessions and workshops. Apart from the attention directed at the Far-Eastern and other Non-European martial arts and combat sports, we are planning a separate session (or sessions) devoted to the European traditions of martial arts: historical fencing (traditional), modern fencing (sports fencing). The Congress will also include the Third International Symposium “Martial Arts, Combat Sports, Humanism”.
We are planning to organize the martial arts workshops (e.g. “Jujutsu – Karate – Self-defence: Technical and Tactical Examples” by Lothar Sieber 10 dan and Hannelore Sieber 8 dan; “Teaching of Self-defence” by Taketo Sasaki 7 dan) and 2nd Budo Gala in Rzeszów with Masters Demonstrations (also a kind of workshop).
